Ode to Merrells….

I have been hiking for a couple of years now. Each time, my footwear has been an issue. I first started with an old pair of Nike Bowerman running shoes…yikes! My feet would be aching by the time I reached the summit.  Next I tried a pair of Columbia hiking shoes that I got from Buffalo Exchange ($10, thank you very much!). I have never, ever had blisters that bad before. Next, I tried again with a well worn pair of Sauconys which were ok until I hit snow…brrrr!

Finally, I decided it was time to break down and purchase my very first pair of official hiking shoes. I went to Dick’s Sporting Goods and tried on every pair in the store. Finally, I found them. Merrell Siren waterproof hiking shoes. Waterproof, of course, Vibrant flexible yet sturdy sole (great for trail running too!!), wool cord laces, aero insole, lightweight and breathable!! This was it!!

I have gone on two 6 hours hikes in these bad boys and let me tell you what, it has made all the difference in the world!! I love having my feet encased in glorious booted wonder! All that to say, if you’re thinking about getting into hiking, it is sooo worth it to try out some hiking specific shoes. Not only will your feet thank you, but your back, shoulders, neck, hips and knees will too!

Happy Shoe Shopping!
